City of Ferguson, Kentucky

From Rails to Roots, We Thrive Together

Honoring Heritage, Building Community

Established 1906

Established in 1906, Ferguson, Kentucky, was once a bustling railroad hub, born to serve the workers of the Cincinnati Southern Railroad. Today, it stands as a close-knit community, preserving its rich history and welcoming all to experience the warmth of small-town living just outside Somerset.

The foundations of Ferguson, were laid as a residential haven for dedicated railroad workers. Nestled just north of the engine repair facilities of the Cincinnati Southern Railroad, The Ferguson Shops, quite possibly named in homage to Edward A. Ferguson, a distinguished Cincinnati attorney and revered railway founder, often referred to as The Father of the Railway. The city of Ferguson was formally incorporated by the state assembly in the same transformative year, cementing its place in history.
